Catching Up

Sooo I've been busy and therefore I haven't blogged too much in the past week or so. Here's what's been going on. . . .

Friday night I went to see the
Five Alpha Beatdown/Brent Gorton/the Orange reunion show at Valentine's. The show was excellent. 5ABD covered "Under Pressure" and it was SO awesome! It was good to see a whole lot of old friends out and about, too. (I kept on hearing from each of them: "Yeah, I never really get out anymore." It's funny that people who don't "get out anymore" always seem to go out on the same nights and to the same places as each other. Hehe.)

Saturday and Sunday I was home in the Southern Tier/NEPA to see my family and, of course, to do laundry. On Sunday we had a nice big lunch that half of us considered Easter dinner and half of us considered a nice big lunch on Sunday. Gotta love blended families.

Monday night I took my Little Sister to see Meet the Robinsons in 3D--it was so much fun! Here's Diamonique looking very fashionable in her glasses.

. . . and I got some really terrific news over the last few days, and to celebrate, Amie sent me a beautiful bouquet of pink carnations. Thanks, Ame!!

Work Work Work

I hate that I have to work today. Hate it! I want to be home making hazelnut rugalach! (I was planning on making it yesterday--I bought ingredients and everything--but found I was without extra-fine granulated sugar, damnit.) Oh well, there is way too much to do to make sure the paper comes out this week to be home today. We have tomorrow off, and I'll be taking my Little Sister to the Fourth of July festivities at the plaza. See you there?

Who You Callin' Little?

In two days I leave for Little Rock, Arkansas. That is where this year's AAN conference is being held, hosted by the Arkansas Times. The keynote speaker for the conference is Bill Clinton. That's pretty cool, I hafta admit. We won three awards, though our placement (1st, 2nd etc.) hasn't been determined yet--we'll learn that at the conference. Melli (M'Land marketing coordinator and old friend of mine) and I will be roommates at the Peabody Hotel. This spells t-r-o-u-b-l-e! We are going to have waaaaay too much fun.

Hm, what else is new? Aaron kicked my ass last night at Scrabble. That was embarrassing. But I went about four rounds with no vowels! How fair is that? Not very, methinks. Anyway, I'll have to show him who the Scrabble champ is next go-round.

Taking my Little Sister to see Cars tonight, I can't wait!

Morning Report

Met my Little Sister (and her many brothers and sisters) last night for the first time. I must say, she is aDORable. She's 9, and she likes math and drama. I told her I may need her to tutor me in math so that I might be able to pass my GREs. I can't wait to hang with her, I think this is gonna be a ton of fun for both of us.

It's a Match!

I have been in the process of becoming a volunteer for Big Brothers/Big Sisters of the Capital Region for a while. On Friday, I was informed that I have been matched with a potential Little Sister. I meet her mother next Wednesday--she must approve of me before I meet the child. I hope she likes me. The girl is 9, and seems like a great kid. I'm excited!
